This touching and soulful romantic tale follows Manav (Akshaye Khanna), who comes to visit India with his wealthy father Jagmohan Mehta (Amrish Puri), his aunt and uncle, and his father's employees. In Chamba he meets Mansi (Aishwarya Rai), the beautiful daughter of a spiritual singer named Tara Babu (Alok Nath); their families meet, Jagmohan and Tara Babu, get acquainted and become friendly toward each other. Meanwhile, Manav and Mansi fall in love, However, when the couple go to Mumbai to spend time with Manav's family, they are summarily ill-treated and insulted by Jagmohan and his family. When Manav himself raises his voice against Mansi's father, it turns out to be the last straw and the couple breakup. Mansi soon meets Vikrant Kapoor (Anil Kapoor), a successful and famous music producer/director, who happens to be a fan of Tara Babu's work. She signs a three-year contract with Vikrant, and becomes an international singing sensation. In course of time Vikrant finds himself falling in love with Mansi, and expresses his wish to marry her. Will Mansi agree? Can she forget the past and get over her love for Manav? Will Manav and his family realise their folly and return to make amends?
