Lalita is married under pressure to a cruel and possessive man JB who treats her poorly and she lives in her home like a bird in a cage. Lalita escapes her home and runs into Raj, his grandfather and grandmother, She hides her identity and calls herself Shika. They welcome her home and grow a liking to her including Raj who falls for her. But trouble returns when JB comes to claim Lalita and reveals her true identity shocking Raj and his grandparents. Lalita explains her situation to them and agrees to go back as a dutiful wife. But will Raj be able to get over Lalita and does she really mean it when she said she agrees to go back as a dutiful wife??
Miscellaneous The film was made in 1995 and at that time there were no drinking water fountains anywhere in India.
Continuity During the flashback of Raj Babbar and Madhuri Dixit's wedding, Madhuri is shown wearing a nose ring. But in the opening scene, when Madhuri is shown running away from her wedding, her nose ring disappears.
