This offbeat action drama delves into the life of Thiruvambadi Thamban (Jayaram), who hails from a christian family that have been supplying elephants for temple processions for generations, and he's in love with a Brahmin girl.
On the way back to Kerala from the Gajamela at Sonepur, Thiruvambadi Mathan Thrakan (Jagathy) happens to confront Shaktivel (Kishore) in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. Shaktivel is a cruel politician and landlord and Mathan fails to understand that he rules the place and accidentally kills his younger brother.
Soon, in a fiery sequence of events, Shaktivel and his men embark on a manhunt for Mathan and his people to avenge the death of his brother. With his father's life threatened by Shaktivel and his violent goons, it is up to Thiruvambadi Thamban to save his father from this extremely dangerous enemy?
