Shirley Temple's father, a rebel officer, is arrested as he sneaks back to his plantation to see his family. Everyone is captured and the officers are to be executed after an escape is set up by a Yankee who takes pity while Shirley and "Bojangles" Robinson beg President Lincoln to intercede.
