After losing his mother to the dreadful bombing accident at the Metropolitan Museum of Art at the tender age of 13, Theodore "Theo" Decker goes through a whirlpool of changes involving grief, guilt, reinvention, redemption, and even love. Through all of the trauma, he holds on to one tangible piece of hope from that terrible day, a painting of a tiny bird chained to its perch - The Goldfinch.
