This family-oriented social drama depicts the fluctuating fortunes in Viswanathan's family. While he lives according to lofty principles, his wife and daughter, Shanthi are modern, sophisticated and believe in Western materialistic ideals.
Shanthi gets married to Bhaskar, who tries his best to minimise the increasing division and conflict within the family, due to their vastly different ideologies. However, incited by her own mother, Shanthi is led astray and goes to the extent of separating from Bhaskar. Will Shanthi ever realise the error of her ways, understand the value of traditional beliefs and return to Bhaskar?
