Wandering through the heavens, Sage Narad saw an ascetic steeped in such deep meditation that the earth began to tremble and natural disasters began to occur. Narad rushed to Lord Vishnu to warn of the danger, who was tending to his guests and fellow gods Brahma and Shiva on this occasion. It turned out that the desire of the sage Atri was the birth of a son joining the holy trinity, Brahma, Vishnnu and Shiva, together. In recognition of his past achievements and to prevent further calamity from befalling the earth, the council of the demigods decided to satisfy the desire of the sage. The holy trinity blessed Sage Atri and his wife Anasuya with a son named Datta ("bestowed") to whom they imbued their souls. Dattatreya was trained in the tradition of the Brahmins but differed from the others as he performed many miracles. The various pastimes and miracles of Lord Dattatreya are depicted in this film.
