Sambhaji 1689 (2013)

This film follows the life of Sambhaji Maharaj, who lost his mother when he was one and half years old, and was raised by his grandmother until her death. His father, Chhatrapati Shivaji, kept him in hiding and away from the kingdom, in an attempt to keep the young prince safe. Influenced by the struggles as a child, he grew up to be an aggressive and forbearing. Meanwhile, Shivaji's second wife and Sambhaji's step-mother, conspired to get her own son on the throne. Sambhaji overthrew all his rivals and became the Maratha Emperor after his father. The Mughal empire feared Sambhaji's brutal nature, and wanted to capture him. Thus, began the Maratha War of Independence against the Mughal empire, Sambhaji's epic and final battle.
