Heena, a HIV positive woman and mother of three, has grown from being a recipient of NGO support in Bombay to the head of Saksham, a group focused on empowering HIV affected women through job training, nutritional education, and a safe space for peer discussion. India has responded to the HIV epidemic by providing treatments free of cost for those with the illness and spreading awareness to at-risk communities. Now there is a second generation of people affected by the disease: women, often widows, who are living healthier lives, but without the skills and education to sustain themselves in society. With Saksham, these women come together to help and inspire each other to move forward.
