Laced with laughs, this social drama provides a humorous perspective into the sensitive topic of caste division in India, through the twists and turns in the life of Prem, a well-educated young man.
Desperate to have a place to stay, Prem rents a house under one small false pretence. As the Brahmin family that owns the house is willing to rent it out only to a Brahmin, Prem pretends to be one, under the broker's advice.
Happy in the new accommodation, Prem's embarks upon a journey to fulfil his dream of becoming a renowned playback singer. Will he succeed in making his dreams come true? When he falls in love with the daughter of the Brahmin family, will his lie of belonging to the same caste come back to haunt him?
The film is loosely based on the Malayalam movie Engane Nee Marakkum (1983).
