This insightful social drama daringly depicts the trials and triumphs in the life of Usha, a courageous journalist. Although she hails from a loving family belonging to rural Kerala, she wishes to write an article about the struggles faced by the youth of India in modern society, highlighting the destructive influences of alcohol, smoking and drug addiction.
When her photo article is published, it creates a huge sensation in the city, with the entire student population from colleges protesting against it. With violence erupting, the deputy superintendent of police, Prathapan is forced come into the picture. At first, he is critical of Usha and her motives, but soon they come to know that they are from the same village, and that Prathapan used to be Usha's father's student.
When Prathapan comes to know that Usha's passion for exposing the destructive effects of addiction on the youth stems from her own personal experience with her younger brother, he begins to support her. However, with many youngsters willing to go to any lengths to punish Usha, will he succeed in protecting her?
