Pitroddhar (1922)

This historical saga revolves around King Bhagirath was faced with a terrible conundrum. His forefathers had been cursed and turned into ash, but there was no way of setting them free. Therefore, King Bhagirath performed severe penance in order to find a solution. Finally he was told that the solution would be to bring the ultimate symbol of purity, the Ganga down to earth in order to purify the sins of his forefathers and grant them redemption. Will King Bhagirath succeed in the upliftment of his forefathers and set a precedent for the holy river to cleanse the sins of generations to come? How will the speed and ferocity of the Ganges be controlled so that her flow would not damage the earth?
