Padha Kanikkai (1962)

This soulful family drama revolves around the trials and triumphs in the life of Shekhar, the second son of wealthy parents. He goes to college with two young women, Chitra and Malathi, and all three of them are good friends and cohorts. Chitra is related to Shekhar and believes herself to have the right to be his wife, but when Shekhar and Malathi fall in love, she is unable to accept it. Further complications arise when Shekhar's elder brother, Manickam becomes distanced from the family due to property rights issues. Will Chitra succeed in forcing Shekhar to marry her?
