Set against a rural backdrop, this evocative drama delves into the trials and triumphs in the life of Kaaliyan, a simple man with extremely large ancestral properties, who lives a happy life with his many younger brothers.
The Pannaiyar, the wealthiest man in town comes forward to propose a wedding between his younger sister, Kannamma (Agnihotri) and Kaaliyan. However, the Pannaiyar is a greedy and cruel man whose ultimate aim is to possess Kaaliyan's properties.
Complications arise when Kaaliyan falls in love with Soundaryan (Sumalatha), a beautiful young woman. Furious with this perceived slight, the Pannaiyar takes revenge on him by committing murders and entrapping Kaaliyan for the crimes. With the corrupt police force in the pockets of the Pannaiyar, will Kaaliyan succeed in proving his innocence, protecting his younger brothers and their ancestral properties?
