Marupuram (1990)

This evocative, socially relevant drama delves into the trials and triumphs in the life of Sethu, a hard-working young man from an impoverished family background. While he and his friend desperately to find some way to earn fast money, they become acquainted with Matthew, any agent, who helps people go to Gulf countries for work. Just as they begin to have hopes and dreams of going abroad, Matthew is arrested by the police for fraud. This completely breaks their hearts, and in the ensuing hardship they face, misunderstandings arise between them, and they decide to part ways. Sethu wants to lead a life of honesty, dignity and straightforwardness, while his friend decides that he would be willing to do anything for wealth. Will Sethu succeed in leading a simple, straightforward, honest, peaceful life or will events from his past trap him in a web of danger, deceit and crime from which there may be no way out? How the relationship between Sethu and his friend pan out?
