Mostly post apocalyptic movies are overdosed with gore violence and unnecessary nudity with over acting actors, which eventually looks like a B grade movies. George Miller a veteran filmmaker who earlier gave movies of this genre proved again that he is the master of this genre. If someone could create art with junk that would be George. He did a fantastic job in putting together the ugliness in it’s beautiful format.
Mad Max Fury Road is movie which does not have something called a dull moment, right from 1st frame till the credits it runs like the Road Runner from ACME. It makes you wonder how these people could come up with scripts of this sort which convinces you without a problem, this movie more than the script. They way it has been conceptualized in terms of set design, building wagons which puts the big foot to shame, make-up, costume design, styling…..the list goes on they have so much in the movie before you could ponder on few the movie is over at godspeed.
The main USP of the movie is the casting which was well picked with right attitude. Charlize Theron was off screens for quite sometime and she made a great appearance on screen after a while. As “Furiosa“she brings out the wrath in it’s full form. Tom Hardy is vaguely wicked, rustic, and hits hard as Mad Max, he’s got that brass which a character like this requires and carried it with elan. Nicholas Hoult as Nux may seem like a dufus in the beginning, but he brings a great amount of character as the movie travels. Hugh Keays-Byrne as Immortan Joe makes a commendable villain. Just when you bask in these characters you are hit with the “Granny Gang“, they are kick ass and put the boys to shame. There’s one character who just hang on to the straps playing guitar and that is something no one could have thought of, all these characters put together makes Mad Max what it is.
The action choreography was way beyond imagination, few scenes throw you off the seats with that life like 3D effect, there are sequences which will be trendsetting for upcoming action flicks. It does definitely take the action to the next level, with death defying stunts. This high octane action was well tracked with wicked soundtrack by Junkie XL. The cinematography was astounding by John Seale, he gave the desert a whole new goth look. The editing was edgy and had sharp cuts.
Mad Max Fury Road….has over the top action involving eccentric characters with visionary designs, makes a point that blockbusters can be more than art and this uniqueness makes it more than a action movie with remarkable narration and a great action movie of our period, get your dose of adrenaline at a cinema near you before they run out of it!!!
