Embedded with charged emotion and fiery action, this socially relevant thriller traces the twists and turns in the life of Monalisa Das (Sherya Jha), a capable and beautiful young woman. She takes care of all the needs and business activities of Tanmay Mohanty (Babushan), a successful sculptor. Despite his popularity Tanmay remains a very introverted man. As an orphan, he is emotionally dependent on Monalisa and secretly loves her, but is unable to express his emotions.
Tragedy strikes Monalisa and her family, when her father loses his eyesight in an accident. In dire financial crisis, Monalisa's stepmother is forced to accept a marriage proposal from Kalidas Patnaik (Samresh), an exceptionally wealthy man. Under immense pressure, Monalisa feels she has no other choice but to marry Kalidas.
However, Kalidas is a psychologically ill man with psychopathic tendencies and he tortures Monalisa. Unable to bear the torment, Monalisa jumps into the water while travelling with her husband on a boat. Will she make it out of the water alive? Will Kalidas find her once more and punish her for trying to escape? Will Tanmay ever find the courage within himself to rescue and protect Monalisa from further harm?
This suspense thriller was largely shot across exotic locations surrounding Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Dhenkanal.
Although this movie did not rise up to expectations in the box office, it was critically acclaimed and went on to win several awards and accolades, including the Best Actor in negative role – Samresh Rautrai, the Best Actress in negative role – Shweta Acharya, and Best Cinematographer - Abhiram Mishra, at the 4th Tarang Cine Awards in 2013.
This movie was partially inspired from the American thriller, Sleeping with the Enemy (1991).
