Kurathi Magan (1972)

Bold and enlightening, this socially relevant drama revolves around the culture and traditional practices of the Kuravar community. When Kuppi, a bold and far-sighted woman of this community fights for the rights of the women and children within the community, she is excommunicated by her own husband, the leader. Kuppi then takes her son to the city, works hard to educate him and moulds him into an honest and sophisticated young man, far removed from the illiterate and ignorant majority of the Kuravars. Will Kuppi's son become a successful leader and help uplift his community? The plot is about how a mother from Kuravar community sacrifices her motherhood for the sake of her son's future.
