This movie was remade in Tamil as Pattakkathi Bhairavan (1979) with Sivaji Ganesan, and in Hindi as Jyoti Bane Jwala (1980) with Jeetendra.

There is a famous cat fight between Jayasudha and Jayachitra, where the scene required them to pull at each other's hair. To prepare for the scene, Jayachitra asked that Jayasudha take her shoes off, since she didn't want to appear shorter than her co-star. Jayasudha refused, and things became tense, and then the director called "action." Even after the director yelled "cut," the actresses were still pulling at each other's hair. By the end of the day, both of them calmed down and made up with each other.
