In India's strongly patriarchal social system, the general belief is that the sons take care of their parents, while daughters get married and establish new familial ties. Male progeny are also given exclusive rights to perform the final rites of their parents. Also, due to the dowry system, the birth of a girl child is considered a burden, especially financially.
However, in this socially progressive drama, a caring and loving daughter, tries to prove through her actions, that daughters are much more caring and compassionate than sons, especially towards aged and ailing parents.
