Kadhanayakan (1997)

Set against the backdrop of traditional music and arts, this romantic drama delves into the ups and downs in the life of Ramanathan, a talented young man, who is equally well versed in traditional music, as he is in income tax matters. Ramanathan is employed by a wealthy mill owner Payyarathu Padmanabhan Nair, whose relative Gopika develops antagonism for Ramanathan. Soon, Gopika and some greedy relatives of the mill owner, create circumstances in which Ramanathan is brought to disrepute and insulted. In truth, Ramanathan's mother never married and he is an illegitimate child. This matter is made into a big deal, causing Ramanathan to almost lose his job and his reputation.
