Translation:
His people's tears of sorrow past endurance, are not they
Sharp instruments to wear the monarch's wealth away?.
Explanation:
Will not the tears, shed by a people who cannot endure the oppression which they suffer (from their king), become a saw to waste away his wealth ?.
This KuraL appears for a fraction in the movie #Kaalaa and this is what the movie is all about .
No individual or group can gain permanent supremacy by looking to uproot the roots of the clans of the soil in the name of social and national interest . This movie has taken up Dharavi as its universe ,Wherein we get to see the fight for the rights to sustain the land .
With an emotional as well as power packed performance from Rajinikanth as Kaalaa Karikaalan and a commendable show by a strong set of supporting actors ,This movie is a very good one to watch .At least to break some myths and stereotypes directly and indirectly within ourselves .
Loved almost every dialog in the movie ! Salute to the writer trio .Technically the movie had good cinematography and background score ! Art director deserves a special mention here .Really amazed !
In the film ,The female characters were too strong than expected and even had some of the best moments in the movie ! That was too good to watch .The way the female characters were shown in Kaalaa's land and Hari Dada's house marked a subtle change ,Yet it was alarming .
Similarly the family oriented scenes were also well sketched .
While most of the heroism scenes including stunt scenes were also nice ,I still wished to see more and more scenes featuring Nana Patekar ! He was too amazing and his effort to dub for himself ,Has made his character as well as the movie more authentic .
There are very little things i didn't find good in this movie .In fact Just two aspects .
1) Better songs (Actually most of the songs were used as BGM ; Yet ,If it's the case why does the film need songs )
2) A shorter first half : Some scenes take lot of time to settle in and are deliberately moved at a slow pace .
I liked Kabali for Rajinikanth's acting alone ,Yet had more complaints about it and i didn't feel like watching it fully for the second time .
Yet ,This movie has so many good moments including the climax , So that the minimum count itself would be thrice in all sources combined.
Certain amount of guilt i had when thinking about how much i have mocked people with dark skin complexion ,Is a moral change in myself ,Reminded whatever my paternal grandmother had said on how black is beautiful .
One small suggestion to the director
When talking about the oppressed ,That doesn't end with oppression by caste ,Creed or locality !
Disability too is an equally oppressive state of being in which we are denied to make use of the full landscape (Right to accessibility.) This happens to anyone irrespective of caste ,Gender and Socio economic status .
Yet ,Many such people including me have somehow reached a level to claim ourselves as achievers ! Still ,The need to see the right to education and accessibility for the rights of people with all kinds of disabilities becomes absolutely inevitable .Especially as i am a person with an everlasting motar disability and a wheelchair user ,The demand to the right to accessibility (Proper opportunities in every aspect of life within the land ) is a must ! Not having that element would make us virtually static.
I wish Kaala the movie actually had a disabled character taking up a conversation on the same topic with Karikalan ,and our hero encouraging that man /Woman with the disability to move ahead and ask for the right ,Thereby ensuring his support to that sector as well .
So #NilameEngalUrimai has touched my heart from this angle in the same way i admired Madras the movie .
That would still remain a top favourite ! Yet ,This film is special for many many reasons including the current situation of the state /Country .
As a line goes in the movie "Inga irukura ovvorutharum Kaalaa dhaan " (Everyone who are here is Kaalaa indeed ) ,Its time to observe and execute to fight against various problems in the society .That's why I've mentioned about the disability sector .Other viewers may or may not relate to the film from thier own angle .
Thanks to the whole team .
