Jhonny (1980)

This evocative love story follows the twists and turns in the life of Archana (Sridevi) and a man whose life is intricately interwoven with her own, Johnny. Archana is an immensely popular singer, and Johnny is an ardent fan of hers, who never misses even one of her concerts. He is also a burglar by profession, albeit he only steals from the greedy who have accumulated wealth by dubious methods, in order to close the loan taken by his father. Over time, Archana begins to notice and recognise Johnny's dedication and devotion towards her, and a tender love develops between the two, but Johnny is guarded in accepting Archana's love, due to his not-so-clean background. But one day, he can no longer deny himself, and ends up accepting Archana's proposal. Meanwhile, there is a twist in the tale as Johnny has a lookalike, in the form of a barber, Vidya Sagar. When he goes into a murderous rage and kills his lover after coming to know of her infidelity, he uses his likeness with Johnny, to try and entrap him for the murder. Will Johnny, who is already wanted by the police for previous crimes, be caught in this web of deceit? Can Archana and Johnny fulfill their love for each other again against all odds?
