In a scheduling coincidence, production started during the 30th anniversary of the death of Princess Grace.

Jessica Chastain, Emily Blunt, Charlize Theron, Reese Witherspoon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, Rosamund Pike, Amy Adams, January Jones and Elizabeth Banks were among those considered to play Grace Kelly.
