Soulful and insightful, this musical biography traces the trials and triumphs in the life of Florence Foster Jenkins, a successful American celebrity.
Florence Foster Jenkins was an exceptionally talented pianist who wished to travel abroad and pursue a career in music, but her wealthy father threatened to cut her off financially. When an illness injured the nerves in her left hand and made her unable to play the piano, she turned to singing despite the lack of ability.
She ran away from home with Dr Frank Thornton Jenkins but their marriage was short lived. After the death of her father, she was bestowed with a comfortable inheritance that gave her the ability to pursue her music once more.
At a lonely time in her life, she met British Shakespearean actor St. Clair Bayfield not long after permanently moving to New York to live with her mother. Bayfield supported her efforts to make public appearances as a singer, and despite gaining a reputation of being a poor signal, Florence died peacefully with the joy of having lived completely and fulfilling her passion for music to the best extent possible.
