Dharan (2019)

Dharan is a story of friendship between a six-year-old urban girl and an eight-year-old rural boy. Inquisitive Charcha travels to a village with her father on his official tour who is a water resources officer, arrived to inspect a dam site. In the village, She befriends Panya- a shy rural boy who is nephew of the caretakers at circuit house. Despite of the difference in their socio-economical strata, their friendship flourishes but on the backdrop of protest existent in the village against the proposed dam. When Panya and his family, discovers; the dam being sanctioned by Charcha’s father will submerge their home & land into the water catchment, their friendship is challenged creating an interpersonal/ social conflict. In their own simple world - How do they solve the problem of this magnitude with their compassion and empathy?
