Kamla is the independent and feminist daughter of a male chauvinistic Hakim ram parshad, who believes theta money spent on a man is a money well spent. Kamla comes first in her school and decides to study further and become a doctor much to the disapproval of her father who rejects her ambitions and desires. Kamla stands up to her father and with the help of Dr. Ratanlal, her father's friend, she pursues a college education and meets with fellow colleague Shyam who helps her in difficult situations.
