Chungakkarum Veshyakalum (2011)

This socially relevant contemporary tale traces the challenges faced by Indian families that emigrate to Western countries, through the story of one Malayali family, who relocated to Canada years ago. Once they are socialised into the environment, Unnunnichayan (Thilakan) goes to Canada to stay with his son. He is from a village in Kerala and finds it difficult to adjust with the Canadian lifestyle. He has a tough time understanding the English language and Canadian culture. On occasions, even his son loses his temper over his father's ignorance and inability to adapt to the new culture. Will Unnunnichayan slowly succeed in developing his English-language skills and adapt to the Canadian culture, or will he become a depressed misfit? Will his family accept him, flaws and all, or will they force him to return home?
