Trivia:
The highlight for the song 'Secret of Success',was that the team were given permission to use the MTV logo as the scene saw the band performing at the MTV Awards, This was the first ever time MTV gave permission to use its logo for an award function scene for a film.

The song 'Maro Maro' was picturised on 500 young dancers at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi, successfully maintaining the youthful and modern feel of the movie.

For the peppy number 'Boom Boom', Cyril made a set out of waste materials like steel, tin sheets, bottles, used cans of Pepsi, Coca Cola, Dalda (oil) and wood waste to create the backdrop, whilst the actors in the song were dressed by designer Arjun Fazil in matchsticks, film rolls, videotape, and crisps covers.

Another song, 'Dating', was shot at a set created by Sabu Cyril on the Chennai seashore where he created a seaside swimming pool, restaurant, water volleyball, and discothèque for the song sequence.

Mark Kobe, who had been a part of the teams of 'Godzilla' and 'Independence Day', carried out the computer graphic effects for this movie and created a 3D female to feature in the song 'Girlfriend'.

The song 'Ale Ale' was picturised at the Bridestowe Estate Lavender Farm in Scottsdale, Tasmania, Australia where cinematographer Ravi K. Chandran linked 62 cameras, using a new 'time-freeze' technique with the help of Australian cinematographer Mark Ruff's rig.

Genelia D'Souza, who was shooting for Hindi film 'Tujhe Meri Kasam', was chosen among 300 girls after Shankar was impressed by her Parker Pen commercial alongside Amitabh Bachchan. However, her voice was dubbed by Rathi of 'Solla Marandha Kadhai'.

To choose five debutants to play the lead characters, auditions were held in 2002, with over 500 applicants being video tested.

The telugu version of this movie ran for over 300 days in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.

This movie suffered extensive censorship throughout its airing at cinema theaters. While for the first few days it was uncensored, it became less and less enjoyable as the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), India, made 17 cuts. The most well known cut was the deleted visuals and dialogs of Juju with the prostitute as he shakes the cot up to the dialog of Bobgali "please please konjam utkarungalen". This scene was shown in the trailer and was one of the most memorable portions of the film.
