Great Plot with humor incorporated so well. Akshay delivered with great zest and throughout the movie he made me believe that "This guy can actually save the country!" Kudos to Neeraj Pandey! Special 26 was awesome, Baby was awesome+ ! :)
There are soldiers who risk their life in protecting their nation at the border, but not many care about the unsung heroes who live beyond borders among the enemy states trying to protect their country with their life at stake. When these soldiers a.k.a Spies are caught they are disowned by their country due to security reasons. “BABY” is a story of such soldiers.
It’s very rare for Bollywood to make a movie of this calibre, Neeraj Pandey had the opportunity to present such feature. From the Director “A Wednesday” & “Special 26″ comes another spy thriller which goes beyond borders to picture the unsung heroes of our country. The movie may resemble few Hollywood flicks, but that’s irrelevant as there are many movies made on these lines. Neeraj’s writing is tight and captures your undivided attention. With a story of this capacity he chose well with casting, every character was apt in their respective roles.
Akshay Kumar, this name was only seen in mindless comedy movies in recent times. Just when was about to give up on the action star he returned to his roots as “Ajay Singh Rajput”. I would say this is Akshay’s far best movie in his career and a very appreciative one, he gave a commendable performance and proved that the actor in him is still alive.
Danny Denzongpa,Rana Daggubati,Kay Kay Menon,Madhurima Tuli,Mikaal Zulfiqar,Murali Sharma,Rasheed Naz & Anupam Kher. All these characters were great support and were perfect at pivotal points in the movie. Among this lot Rasheed Naz a Pakistani TV actor made a great impression as ” Maulana Mohammad Saeed Rahman”.
Among the supporting actors there was a surprise element in the name of Taapsee Pannu, who just swept everyone off their feet with her stunt in the movie. After which came to a realization that she has not been explored as an actress well enough until BABY.
This one had a great production value and the film making was at it’s best. The cinematography was exceptional with angles and shots usually seen in Hollywood flicks, well shot by Sudeep Chatterjee. The movie had a long run time, but the tight screenplay and sharp editing by Shree Narayan Singh keeps you hooked on to it. Another USP of the film is the action which did not have the stupid frills which makes action a comedy.
The surgical attack carried on in this movie is similar to the one which was executed to finish the mastermind behind the 9/11 attack, this could be done by our country in real time as well, but we just have politicians screaming their guts out promising in the name of 26/11 attack. Well that’s all together a never ending argument.
“BABY is an exceptional, gripping and edge of the seat thriller which was long due in our film industry, this espionage thriller by Neeraj Pandey is a must watch!!!”
Rating: 4/5.
