Trivia:
This film is based on Shannon Hale's 2007 novel of the same name.

In the airport scene, Mr. Henry Nobley insults Martin by saying that Martin couldn't get an acting part in The Hobbit. In reality Bret McKenzie, who plays Martin, plays the role of Lindir in The Hobbit.

Rupert Vansittart, who plays Mr. Wattlesbrook, was also in the BBC mini-series of Pride & Prejudice.

Jennifer Coolidge's (Miss Elizabeth Charming's) lines were mostly made up on the spot, since it was almost impossible to get her to memorize the script.
