Asthram (1983)

Embedded with soulful romance and charged emotion, this offbeat romantic drama insightfully probes into concepts of fidelity, commitment, trust in friendship and marriage. Capt. C. S. Nair and Rekha are a happily married couple. The Captain meets Balu, a photographer accidentally and the both of them really hit it off. They become the best of friends and almost treat each other like brothers. After Captain Nair leaves on duty for a long assignment, both Balu and Rekha find themselves missing him terribly. In order to combat loneliness, they begin spending a great deal of time together and slowly, a strange and irresistible attraction forms between them. Despite feelings of guilt, both of them are unable to withstand the longing and yearning for each other. They succumb to temptation and begin having an affair. Will Balu continue their affair or will remorse and the sense of betraying his best friend's trust force him to leave in order to save his friendship?
