Arpita (1983)

This evocative relationship drama revolves around Arun, a struggling poet who finds his poetry rejected by magazines. He is hurt by the commercialisation of literature and the recommendation by editors that he should be writing action thrillers and mystery stories instead.

Arpita is a beautiful young woman who sings melodiously and encourages Arun by turning his poems into song. However, she is shouldered with the responsibility of caring for an ailing relative.

Although he harbours strong emotions for Arpita, Arun ends up marrying Shamoli, who has no appreciation for his poetry. Why did Arun marry Shamoli? How will his marriage pan out? What does Arpita's future hold in store?
