Ammaa Ki Boli (2019)

Laden with comedy, this social satire is actually a probe into the callous treatment of the elderly in modern India, at times by their own children.

The story revolves around an old widow Ammaa (Faruk Zafar) and the treatment meted out to her by her five grown-up children, Parmu (Govind Namdev), Jeetu (Sitaram Panchal), Rukmi (Sanjay Mishra), Kalavati (Himani Shivpuri) and Hari (Zakir Hussain). As all his other siblings are financially secure and comfortably settled in life, Rukmi develops the desire for a two wheeler which he alone is yet to purchase, and consequently steals nearly Rs. 40,000/- from Ammaa’s safe-box.

Despite the burglary, nobody values the elderly lady or treats are with respect. The crux of the tale highlights how the ill-treatment spirals into active abuse and callous disregard of Ammaa's basic right to be treated with dignity, as a human being and a mother.
