Contrary to its optimistic title, almost nothing much is quite well in "ALL IS WELL".Talented director Umesh Shukla who gave us a stirring satire in "Oh My God" tries to embrace the saccharine family melodrama format and the film looks like a loony version of Piku meets Hum Aapke Hain Koun. The film is well intention ed to highlight the plight of elderly and the problems faced by those suffering from Alzheimer disease..a fleeting mention.
This film deserved to be released in the 80's or early 90's.Not that the cast does not try.Sincerity is on display here even when the talented Mohd.Zeeshan Ayub playing the buffoon like villain Cheema acts or overacts.A rousing talent like him and Supriya Pathak seem to be utterly wasted. It is nice to see Asin after a long time and the actress adds a freshness with her prescence..but that cannot save the film from tumbling downward.Rishi Kapoor and Abhishek Bacchan do not give us anything new to rave about in their more than adequate turns and even the sultry Sonakshi Sinha item number cannot rouse one from deep slumber. The music is quite all right and the best song of the album plays in the end credits and the frequent reprised versions of Aye mere humsafar from Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak only make your heart yearn for something better..proving that Old is Gold.
Best summed as an average time pass flick which does no justice to the mammoth actors in its ensemble cast and also establishes that Umesh Shukla needs to tackle some fresh concept to revive his directorial credentials.
