Set against a rural backdrop, this family drama depicts the fluctuating fortunes in the life of Miranda, the daughter of Madhavan Nair, who writes to Appooppan, her grandfather after she is orphaned. When Madhavan Nair had decided to marry a Christian woman, Appooppan had thrown him out of the house.
Appooppan is very close to his youngest grandchild, Asha Kutti, a fragile child, who often gets seizures. Appu is a kind young man, who is very gentle with Asha.
Miranda turns out to be a beautiful young woman, who speaks fluent English and has been brought up in the westernised lifestyle of the big city in Mumbai. All the members of the family and curious about Miranda, while some are threatened by her presence. Initially, they try to discriminate against her for being the daughter of a Christian, but soon, she wins them on over by her cheerful and sweet personality.
Upon her return to Bombay, Miranda learns that her mother plans to get married once more and returns to her ancestral home in Kerala. Will Appooppan and the rest of the family accept Miranda? How will her relationship with Appu unfold? Will Miranda stay or will she be forced to return?
