Set against the stark background of a remote village in the Brazilian hinterland, this evocative drama depicts three love stories and desire changing the emotional landscape of its residents.
Sparking off with a funeral procession of a child, some of the key characters in the village are brought to light. Querência, the mother of the child who has just been buried, who lives with the mourning and with the harassment of the village blind blindfold. Das Dores, the oldest lady of the place, who receives the unexpected visit of the grandson coming from São Paulo. And Alfonsina, a 15-year-old girl who dreams of leaving the hinterland and getting to know the sea. She takes care of the house, having to serve the father and the brothers. At the same time, she knows the world through the stories of Uncle Joãozinho, an epileptic artist, who lives in favor with his brother and clearly does not belong to that environment.
A tough father, the lady who takes care of everyone else's life, the disabled who is repelled by the population, the artist – how will her all these individual threads interweave to form a unique quilt?
